Everything T-shirts - Hyperstitious

It’s funny when people buy t-shirts (and wear them) without really understanding what they mean. This happens particularly often with t-shirts that have foreign words on them. The one shown here is being sold as an innocuous “chinese zodiac” t-shirt, and indeed, the Chinese character says “chicken” - which is one of the Chinese star signs. What they don’t tell you is that the word is also slang for prostitute in China. So basically the customer would end up wearing a big sign that says “whore” in Chinese.

The same slang was responsible what what must be one of the worst translations of all time. Remember KFC’s “we do chicken right”? Well, Chinese branches of KFC decided to translate this slogan literally, came up with something that basically said “we should be whores”. Finger eating good!
